This translator uses rule-assisted AI translation, not Neural Machine Translation (NMT). This translator uses AI through an online API connection. It is part of an ongoing experimental project to explore the use of artificial intelligence in translating between multiple languages and Dusun. Unlike major languages with millions of parallel texts available online, Dusun currently lacks sufficient digital corpora to train a dedicated NMT model. Instead, we leverage AI combined with custom Dusun grammar rules and our curated Dusun Dictionary to guide translations.
For best results, English input tends to produce the most accurate Dusun translations. Sentences in other languages (Malay, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Spanish) are first converted into English before being translated into Dusun. This additional step may slightly affect precision or phrasing.
The AI may occasionally generate Dusun words that do not exist in our dictionary. It might create new words based on linguistic patterns, borrow from similar languages, or apply its own logic to fill gaps. Always verify important translations with native speakers or authoritative sources.
