This translator uses our Dusun dictionary (now at 17,000+ entries) as its primary source. When a word or phrase is found in the dictionary, it is used directly. When it is not found, the AI will attempt to translate using its general knowledge of the Dusun / Kadazan-Dusun language — which may occasionally produce inaccurate or invented words (hallucination). Always verify important translations with a native speaker or the Dictionary.
This is the primary and most accurate translation path. The translator first searches the dictionary for exact matches before calling the AI.
Malay translation offers three methods. Select the one that best suits your input style using the Method 1 / 2 / 3 buttons that appear when Malay is selected.
Translates the Malay sentence word-by-word into English first, then searches the dictionary and translates to Dusun. Stays close to the original Malay structure.
Best for: properly structured Malay sentences with correct spelling and imbuhan (affixes).
Translates directly from Malay to Dusun using the dictionary's Malay column. Most accurate when the input precisely matches dictionary entries.
Best for: short phrases, single words, or sentences that closely match dictionary entries.
The AI interprets the full meaning and intent of the Malay sentence first, then constructs a natural English equivalent before translating to Dusun. More flexible with informal input.
Best for: informal Malay, Sabah Malay, or sentences with unclear structure.
The translator supports translation from Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Spanish into Dusun. These languages are first translated to English by the AI, then matched against the Dusun dictionary.
Use the swap button ⇄ to reverse the translation direction. Type Dusun text on the left and select your target language on the right.
